Agricola Faena in Umbria
As well as Olivaverde partnering with Agricola Faena in offering cookery holidays, olive oil and wine appreciation courses, we are pleased that we can also offer their superb extra virgin olive oil to consumers in the UK and Ireland.
The olive oil produced in this part of Italy is famous for it’s high quality and is has been produced since ancient times.
The frantoio produces two fine extra virgin olive oils and Olivaverde is pleased to be able to supply these to consumers in the UK and Ireland.
Standing in the Castello di Collelungo estate, this frantoio is also the property of the Faina Family. The farm is just over 400 hectares, 50 hectares of which are used for the production of the finest quality extra virgin olive oil.
The estate also offers superb accommodation for visitors to this beautiful part of Italy and the beautiful cities of Perugia and Todi are both only a short distance away.
The first extra virgin olive oil offered by Faena is the Rocchio Alto Extra Virgin Olive Oil which is produced using the olive varieties of Frantoio, Leccino, Moraiolo, Ascolana, FS-17 and Don Carlo.
The colour of the olive oil is intense green and slightly opaque with a elegant and powerful opening aroma with rich scents of grass and artichokes. The oils palate is full and rounded, slightly bitter and sharp overall a well balanced and excellent olive oil.
The second extra virgin olive oil on offer is Rocchio Alto DOP an Extra virgin olive oil D.O.P. Umbria - Colli Orvietani.
The oil is made solely from the Moraiolo, Frantoio and Leccino varieties of olives and has a very low acidity of less than 0.3%. The colour of the oil is intense green and slightly opaque with a fruity bouquet and the palate rounded and complex, characterised by clear hints of fresh herbs and vegetables. The taste is slightly bitter and sharp and the oil is very finely balanced.
