Azienda La Pace in Umbria
Frantoio La Pace is another small artisan producer of fine Extra virgin olive oil and the olive mill is located in the village of Massa Martana not far from the historic cities of Todi and Perugia in central Umbria.
The olive oil produced by the Frantoio is of the very highest quality and the owner uses a blend of five varieties of olives to produce an oil with a wonderful fresh flavour and aroma.
Leccino and Frantoio varieties of olives make up 60% of the blend with the rest consisting of the olive varieities of Moraiolo, Fecciaro and San Felice.
All the olives used in the production of the extra virgin olive oil are grown on land owned by this one producer and therefore the olive oil is categorised as Single Estate Extra virgin olive oil. All the olive oil from the estate is also has the highest Umbria DOP certification.
We at Olivaverde are proud to be the only promoters and distributors this very special olive oil in the UK and Ireland.
The estate consists of a total of 160 hectares of land of which 10 hectares are planted with olive trees and the highest standards of plant husbandry are to be found in the cultivation of the trees and also in the production of the fruit. There are just over 3,000 olive trees of which more than 50% are relatively new olive trees, the remainder are much older trees and in some cases very ancient trees.
Azienda La Pace is located at a height of 250m above sea level and the land and climate in this area is perfect for the cultivation of olives and the oil produced is typical of the light and fruity Umbrian olive oils from this region.
The olive mill is found inside a large country house located just outside of the village and the owner is always keen to meet clients and other visitors who are interested in the history, cultivation and production of his olive oil.
