Monovarietal Leccino and Frantoio Olive Oil from Le Marche
The Azienda Agricola e Biofattoria Aleandri produces only extra virgin olive oil produced by certified organic methods, both the more normal blended type and also wonderful monovarietal olive oils from the varieties of olive, Leccino and Frantoio.
Monovarietal Leccino and frantoio olive varieties are grown normally to blend with other olive varieties to produce mainstream extra virgin oils, but at Agricola Aleandri each variety is used only to produce excellent monovarietal oil with the aroma and taste whcih is individual to that particular variety of olive.
The frantoio or mill and the olive groves are situated in southern Le Marche near the historic town of Offida. The business is owned by the one family and all the olives grown and used in the production of their olive oil comes only from their own olive groves and trees. In 2007 the frantoio invested heavily in updating the mill and equipment used for the production of their organic olive oils and this included new buildings to house the latest equipment they now use in their production process.
Finding single estate organic olive oil is quite rare even in Italy, and then to find fine monovarietal oil as well as the normal blended olive oil produced organically is very rare indeed.
The owner of Agricola e Biofattoria Aleandri is very involved with the organisations involved in regulating and promoting extra virgin olive oil in southern Le Marche and also promotes Le Marche olive oils to the outside world.
