Azienda Agricola Parature in Sicily
Sicilian extra virgin olive oils are one of the great joys in life and Olivaverde have managed to source a truly outstanding olive oil from a small producer, Azienda Agricola Parature di Citta Maria, whose mill and groves are located in the countryside just outside the beautiful village of Castelbuono.
The village of Castelbuono lies just ten kilometres south of the northern Sicilian coast near Cefalu is just north east of a National Park with areas of outstanding beauty. TThis part of Sicily is often overlooked by foreign visitors but it is a vibrant and beautiful part of this magical and historic Island.
The Azienda Agricola Parature produces wonderful spicy Extra virgin olive oil and the oil is also produced organically which is still quite rare to find in Sicily. The olive oils produced at the Azienda Agricola Parature all have the DOP Sicilia certification and are also registered as totally produced by organic means.
The varieties of olives used in the production of the Extra virgin olive oil are the Giarraffa, Crastu and Nerba and this blend leads to a fruity full bodied spicy olive oil which is a favourite amongst most tasters.
Extra virgin olive oil from this Azienda has also one many awards for quality and flavour in mainland Italy as well as on Sicily and also received the prestigious Mention of Merit at the Premio Sirena d’Oro di Sorrento in 2009.
